Spam, Spam, spam, spam, legit, spam, spam, and spam

You know what I’ve been doing the last 20 minutes back from the virtual dead?

Deleting spam.

Instead of posting a decent post on how I’m now back and sorry for not posting (etc, etc), I had been deleting spam. Some were almost legit, until I realized that they had put a link in their name. Since I’ve already responded, I just edited the posts.

That said, from now on, any tech question can be asked on my tech blog: http://mometek.blogspot.com. If you ask it here, I’ll have to delete it.

As for the type of blogging platform I use, It’s WordPress for my personal blog and Blogger for my tech blog. It’s likely I’ll post on blogging platforms in the near future – and point any question about it to that post – but it won’t show up in the comment section.

  1. Hi there, i read your blog from time to time and i
oown a similar one and i was jusxt wondering if you get a llot of spam comments?
If so how do yoou reduce it, anny plugin or anything you cann suggest?

I geet sso much lately it’s driving me insane so
any help is very much appreciated.

    • I’ve just installed Google’s “ReCaptcha.” You can search for it in your plugins. Not sure how it works, but here’s hoping for the best.

I think the title has a lot to do with it as well. I think I got 20 spam comments on this particular article alone. Any video on vine I posted with “cute baby” also get a lot of spam comments. I also suspect “Cute kittens” and “puppies” also generate a lot of spam.

  2. Hello just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you knopw a few of the images aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it inn ttwo different internet browsers and both show the same
    outcome.

    • I sometimes use Zemanta for images when I don’t have one of my own available. It’s likely that they were taken down by the original poster.

I don’t think that will happen as often as I will be using mostly my own images from now on.
