This week so far

The electrical technician came in this morning and finally got our power up and running.

It was kind of difficult. We had to rotate though all of the power hogs. I would start the generator and plug in all of the rechargeable devices first, but I wouldn’t startcoffee maker for a half hour.

The fridge and freezer would take all of the power trying to catch up from being off for a few hours. Then the water heater would take all of the power, so for the most part, I would boil water for cleaning and dishes to save the trouble of running the generator for forty minutes, just for a few gallons of hot water. We did run it all day Saturday for showers.

The lights work just fine thanks to the fact that like all campers, the lights ran on battery… the very battery we just replaced a few months ago.

The lights would charge every time the generator was on, but I convinced the kids that we should use the lights only for emergencies.  They went to bed early. I guess this was a good thing, considering I would also go to bed early, as even time on my laptop was limited to battery power… and Ethan would use most of it.

Anyway, that particular crisis is over. On to the next one. This one may not be avoided, but I get into more details when I have more details.

Movie Night

Popcorn container from Cinemark

The library had a hunger games marathon with the potential to win tickets for The Hunger Games, Mocking Jay Part 1.

They had 10 tickets for 10 potential winners. Less than 10 people showed up, so the three oldest went to the 11 o’clock showing.

I made Stephanie and Benjamin popcorn and since I couldn’t get the internet to work, they played Minecraft past their bedtime.

They were in bed long before the others came home, which was after 1:30 am.

You would think they would have slept late, but no. They were up at their usual time, a bit touchy due to lack of sleep.

Everyone goes to bed early tonight!

At least I hope they do.

Crazy Annoying, Dreams

Dreams have a way of slapping you in the face with your own anxieties and fears.

Last night, I had a school dream. I haven’t had one in quiet some time and they usually show up when my ADHD symptoms are causing problems.

Typically they revolve around homework, missed classes, and getting lost in the halls. I would put what I need in my folder, go to the first class, open the folder for the homework I need… and it wouldn’t be there.  No matter where I looked, I would not be able to find it.

Then I would try to go to the next class. This time, I knew it was “Math 2” but I couldn’t find the itinerary that would have let me know in which classroom it was, who the teacher was, and how to get there.   Fortunately, it was a non-required adult school (or something like that), so I started to go through my head (still in the dream) that I’ll probably not show up tomorrow and eventually give it up altogether.

Nah, better see if I can get help from the principle. I walk over to the administration office and saw that she was trying to make popcorn in a machine that was also used for cotton candy.

My oldest son was supposed to clean it, but didn’t do a good job, so it caught fire.  I helped her to stop the spread, but some of the flame was still on her hands and she wiped it onto a towel, which also caught fire. She went to get some water, and poured it in the wrong spot.

A little annoyed, I had her give me the water so that I can put it out. I almost pour it in the same spot, but stopped myself and poured it on the right spot, the fire now out.

So I called my son, and told him he needed to come back and fix the problem, but lost connection. I asked the woman in the office where he was, and she said that he was at the YMCA.

I figured I would go out there to get him, but then I saw a YouTube video of Nathan getting shot in the head by some teenager.

I checked the video for the posting time, but it was posted “tonight”, which was odd, so at first I thought it was a hoax.

Then I realized I was dreaming. When my dreams become lucid and they’re nightmarish… I try to change them, but for some reason, I just had to wake up.

sigh

Of course, when I get these kinds of dreams and they’re not resolved in the dream itself, I can’t go back to sleep. So now, I’ll have this distraction all day, even though I know it was only a dream.

Revamping my Focus

I’ve been focusing on updating the MOMETEK site recently and kind of neglecting my other sites. My problem is that I haven’t been focusing on any one thing lately and as a result, nothing is getting done, or it’s only done as “good enough”.

What made this more difficult, is the fact that for a couple of weeks, we had to share the antennae. This meant for most of the day, I couldn’t get online. If I managed to link with my internal Wi-Fi, the internet was unstable and very slow (think dialup).

I was lucky enough to load Google+.

Anyway, while I still will be posting here to let family and friends know what I’m up to, Nancie’s Web will be neglected as I finish the objectives with MOMETEK… as in finishing the new landing page and the new monthly guide for April.

Once that’s all set up, I will have my Personal site set up – again. This time instead of using flash, using CSS to accomplish roughly the same thing.

Hopefully, after that, I can finally focus on this WordPress template. I’m still not to crazy about it as I have found better ones, but the better ones require more “tweaking”.

This also means that I may not be able to post videos for a couple more days. Again.

I do have a lot to do online and a limited amount of time daily to do it. Here’s hoping for me to get my act together.

In One Day…

A lot has happened today, so much so, that I have no idea where to start.

First, we finally got a renter into the house, one that is going to eventually buy it, or at least that’s the plan. She already has the down payment, just is just waiting for the loan to be approved. She’ll move in March 1st.

Then Mike got a phone call… He got the job at Pepsico in Dallas. He was supposed to go to a second interview, but I guess he impressed them so much, they decided to skip the interview. It’ll be at least two more weeks before he starts, however. So we still have no steady income until then.

No problem, we used our last emergency fund to hold out until the end of March. With what the renter pays, the mortgage will be taken care of.

Sometime when all of this was unfolding, I injured my foot. Don’t ask how, as I’m still trying to figure that out myself, but there’s a nice gash on my heal. Mike did a good job in cleaning and wrapping it up.

p>Last but not least, everyone except Benjamin, the baby, and me went to see the “Son Of God” Prescreening. We couldn’t find a babysitter, so it was a little disappointing, but I got to rest my foot a little.

Well, except for the fact I had to take the dogs out. I may have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

Soon

Soon Cat and BirdI know my blogging is sporadic. At the moment, I am still focused on updating my website. The good news, the internet has been a little better lately and I finally got most of the new design up. It still needs work, but it’s nice to have something accomplished.  It won’t be long before I start to post more frequently. What’s more, I’m setting the kids up on their sites as well, so you will be seeing more of them.

I am working hard at getting everything up and running by January 1st, as I start video blogging then.

New theme update

I changed my theme to an out-the-box version, for now. I’ve been meaning to update the family photo here, but haven’t been able to get to that. At the moment, I’ve been working more on my personal site instead. I also decided to change the theme to reflect shorter posts and photos since I haven’t had the time to post longer ones. Hopefully, this gives me an incentive to post more frequently.

In Texas

We finally made it to the “Texan RV Park” and after all the problems getting here, what could possibly go wrong? Let’s see…  The internet is awful, only because we are too far from the WAP. Fortunately, that could be resolved by getting an antenna booster.  Unfortunately, we aren’t spending on anything extra until Mike is working again. It’s in the 90s and our air conditioner quit and now… it’s raining and nothing seems to be able to dry out.

On the bright side, we made it in one piece and the camper is still intact, minus the AC. Pfft, who needs AC in September anyway? Oh that’s right, we’re in Texas. It does seem that we have brought the cold with us. It’s supposed to be in the fifties at night for the next few days. Maybe by then we will have the AC fixed.

Until we get a booster, I’ll probably be on only twice a week.  This is when I have to do laundry and the internet is stable and fast.  I think one of the WAPs are there. This will mean no Skype for a little while longer, but I will be posting to my blog.
